Noveske makes some excellent products, too bad they stopped producing their .308. Unfortunately flash hiders are illegal in Cali, just like almost everything else.

You need to return it.
Perhaps, after a century or so of Mexican influence, you can take it back, and try again.

I hear the Vortex and Hurricanes are pretty darned good. Watch some of the vids, you can barley see a flash, if at all.

The site's description is marketing this mainly for short barreled rifles. Would this cause a problem with the cycling or anything like that for a standard 16 inch?

Near term no. But if you are going to do a high round count session, say 300-500 +/-rounds at one time during practice or at a shooting school your M4/M16 will get dirty twice as fast and jam up on you. The KX3 is designed to blow back more gas into the chamber area / bolt carrier to improve the cycling of weapons with shorter barrels.

Over the last 3-4 years I've shot with two guys that had them on their weapons and both were the first to go down due to excessive carbon build up.
